About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our site hygiene across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Hygiene Section Manager to join our Production Team, based at our Scropton site near Hatton, Derbyshire.

The role is factory and office based, so you’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical.

As Hygiene Section Manager you’ll be leading and supporting the Hygiene team who work in shifts to cover factory requirements. The teams core hours are from 16:00 – 06:00 Monday – Saturday.

This role would be contracted to 40 hours per week and require some flexibility in shift start times to manage the entire team effectively.


What will your key responsibilities as Hygiene Section Manager include?

  • Managing hygiene, co-ordinating team activities and maintaining audit ready hygiene standards at all times.
  • Managing and providing training and development for the team.
  • Ensuring all elements of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standards.
  • Maintaining detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for hygiene activity.
  • Conduct COSHH assessments, risk assessments and documenting safe systems of work.
  • Ordering and maintaining levels of cleaning chemicals and equipment through communication with external suppliers
 
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • Knowledge of Hygiene from either a Hygiene or Production background, ideally within the food industry.
  • Experience in a FMCG or fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong people management skills and confident with your ability to motivate teams.
  • General understanding and interest in food hygiene and microbiology.
  • A positive and pro-active attitude with the confidence to challenge when necessary.
  • Hygiene qualifications and/or internal auditor qualifications would be desirable.
